Even if a few of their players fire, the Kiwis will have a tough task at hand. Here is a look at the top five players to watch out for in NZ vs WI here:

1) Chris Gayle: The big Jamaican can single-handedly change the course of the game. He fires selectively. But if the quarter-finals against New Zealand turns out to be his day, the Kiwis will have a big task at hand. The small boundary of the Westpac Stadium is only going to make things easier for Chris Gayle. A large part of West Indies’ chances of making it through to the semi-finals depends on Gayle. 2) Kane Williamson: The ever-reliable Kiwi batsman hasn’t hit top form in the ongoing world cup as well. But his consistency over the last year and a half had made him one of the best batsman in world cricket. He can play the long innings, he can play the big shot and continues to remain the most vital cog in the Kiwi batting line-up.

3) Tim Southee: The tall Kiwi pacer has done well with the new-ball alongside Trent Boult. He even bowled the spell of the world cup against England, bagging seven wickets. He will have the task of dismissing the dangerous Chris Gayle early on in the innings. If he can make merry of the swinging conditions in Wellington, West Indies top-order is going to have a hard time.

4) Marlon Samuels: Samuels is a big match player. Barring the match against Zimbabwe, he hasn’t done much noteworthy against the other oppositions. A big knock is due from him. Even with the ball, West Indies have used him sparingly. He needs to anchor the innings when West Indies take on New Zealand. 5) Andre Russell: The all-rounder has had a fairly decent world cup and has made some meaningful contribution. He can change the course of the game with some lusty hitting towards the end  of the innings. With the ball, he is constantly bowling over 140 kmph. In the swinging conditions of Wellington, he can make the make the cherry talk.
